The Shung-Do-Kwan Children’s and Teenagers’ Aikido section was founded around 1980. Several instructors have taught there since then. Currently, Ms. Tamara Franzova (2nd Dan) is the instructor, assisted by several assistants.<\/p>\n

Aikido can be translated as the study and pursuit of the physical and mental coordination of energy.<\/p>\n

The practice of Aikido is outwardly presented as a set of highly elaborate and diverse techniques, based on the natural laws of the circle and the spiral.<\/p>\n

The Aikido practiced by children is of the same school as that practiced by adults. However, the classes are taught with a very playful approach, while maintaining the martial spirit and the philosophy of defusing aggression. Effectiveness is not the primary goal; rather, respect for one’s partner and awareness of one’s surroundings are paramount. The harmonious development of the child and teenager is our objective.<\/p>\n

The student’s progress is marked by training sessions and exams that allow them to advance from one rank to the next. There are six ranks (each with its own color) leading to the black belt (1st Dan). For children, each rank is further divided into five stripes.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Forward and backward<\/p>\n

Attacks and holds:<\/p>\n

Varied and in various forms<\/p>\n

Techniques including:<\/p>\n

absorption, entry, unbalancing, immobilization, and throwing.<\/p>\n

A child can begin Aikido from the age of 8. At 15, a teenager trains with adults.<\/p>\n

The uniform is the same as in judo or karate.<\/p>\n
