The Aikido and Kenjutsu sections of Shung Do Kwan Budo Geneva—
developed by Gildo Mezzo Sensei (who passed away on July 1, 2026),
a 7th Dan of the Tokyo Aikikai and the technical director
for the Kashima no Tachi (Kenjutsu) school in Switzerland—

Passing of Gildo Mezzo Sensei
It is with great sadness that the Aikido and Kenjutsu sections of "Shung Do Kwan Geneva" share this news with you.
Gildo Mezzo Sensei—an Aikikai 7th Dan who had been teaching at our club since 1975—passed away during the night of July 1st.
His practice and teaching combined clarity, precision, and uncompromising rigor with an open mind and a constant pursuit of effectiveness, achieved by refining the principles and techniques he employed.
In the 1970s, at the Hombu Dojo, he met not only the most illustrious Japanese masters—including Yamaguchi Sensei and Saotome Sensei—but also Christian Tissier, Franck Noël, and many others who became his friends. Thanks to Gildo and his international standing, we were able to benefit from their instruction, as well as that of many other world-renowned Aikido masters, during numerous seminars held at our club.
Furthermore, having trained notably under Inaba Sensei, Gildo taught us the Kenjutsu of the Kashima school (Shiseikan, Tokyo). He opened the doors to that prestigious martial arts academy for us, as well as to the ISBA, the international organization affiliating Kenjutsu dojos outside Japan.
A great Aikido master has left us; he possessed immense knowledge of both Aikido and Kenjutsu, which he strove to pass on to us with great patience. His teaching was characterized by open-mindedness and generosity, and he trained numerous black belts within the ACSA in Switzerland.
Gildo also led many seminars in Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
It is with deep admiration that we bid him farewell.

Please note the change of schedule for the Monday evening Aikido class.
The Monday evening (7:00 PM to 8:30 PM) and Thursday evening (7:00 PM to 8:15 PM) Aikido classes, as well as the Tuesday evening Kenjutsu class (6:30 PM to 8:00 PM), take place at the Trembley Dojo.

Aikido classes for children
Children’s Aikido classes do not take place during school holidays. Aikido classes for children (ages 8 to 16) have resumed on Wednesdays, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Dojo Motta.
